BUDS (2025) – Netflix Comedy Series | Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler

Netflix brings comedy legends Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler together for the first time in BUDS (2025), a wild and heartwarming buddy comedy series about two lifelong best friends navigating the absurdities of middle-aged life, second chances, and one ridiculous adventure after another.

Series Premise

Carrey and Sandler star as Charlie and Doug, two childhood friends who peaked in high school and have been coasting ever since. Now in their 50s, they find themselves stuck in dead-end jobs, going through midlife crises, and desperately clinging to their glory days. But when an unexpected opportunity forces them back into the world of their wildest dreams, they embark on a misadventure-filled quest to prove they’ve still got it.

Trailer Breakdown

The trailer kicks off with Charlie (Carrey) and Doug (Sandler) sitting in their favorite diner, sipping coffee and debating the greatest action hero of all time. “It’s Schwarzenegger, no question,” Doug insists. Charlie smirks, “Oh yeah? Say that when you’re dangling off a helicopter at 3,000 feet.”

Cut to the next scene—Charlie and Doug actually dangling from a helicopter, screaming as it spirals out of control.

Hilarious mishaps: Doug attempts to open a food truck but accidentally sets it on fire. Charlie tries online dating, only to end up on a disastrous blind date with his ex (played by Jennifer Aniston in a guest role).
Heartfelt moments: A flashback to their teenage years, showing how their bond has survived decades of chaos.
A wild, unexpected twist: The duo stumbles upon a buried treasure map, leading them on an adventure that spirals into an international fiasco involving mistaken identities, a stolen yacht, and a mob boss (Steve Buscemi) who really wants his money back.
A star-studded supporting cast: Cameos from Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart, and Maya Rudolph add to the comedic madness.

As the trailer closes, the two find themselves running from security guards at a fancy gala, covered in paint, holding bags of cash, and laughing uncontrollably. “I think we might be too old for this,” Doug says, out of breath. Charlie grins, “Nah, we’re just getting started.”

With a perfect mix of slapstick humor, heartfelt friendship, and over-the-top escapades, BUDS promises to be the ultimate comedy series of the year.

 Some friendships never grow up.
